Kulturum supports and develops the bilingual and Swedish-speaking arts education in Finland.

Kulturum supports bilingual and Swedish-speaking municipalities, arts schools and actors in developing basic education in the arts and other arts education for children and young people in Finland. A foundational part of our work is to strengthen the collaboration and operating conditions of the arts education sector and to work for a more accessible and inclusive arts and culture education for children and young people in Finland.

What we do:

• We organise networking events for the arts education sector

• We arrange seminars and conferences in different cities in Finland

• We support municipalities, arts schools and actors in developing arts education

• We make advocacy work and promote the arts education sector in Finland

• We maintain a website called Idébanken with teaching resources and inspiration in Swedish

Kulturum is coordinated by the organisations KulturÖsterbotten and Sydkustens landskapsförbund. Kulturum received its initial funding (2023–2026) through the SKAPA funding programme by the Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland. Kulturum started a new project phase 1st of April 2026 with the support of the Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland, the foundation Brita Maria Renlunds minne sr. and Amos Anderson Fund.
